Certification

Certification of a Diplomate requires demonstration of training, evidence of post-training experience, and successful completion of Written and Oral Examinations on the entire scope of the specialty.

General Requirements

All applicants must submit a signed and notarized examination application and include the general application requirements. Please read the detailed information in the Candidate Application Brochure before starting the Candidate Application process. The ABHRS Credentialing Committee bases its criteria for acceptance on generally accepted methods of hair restoration surgery as published in current hair transplant journals and textbooks.

Routes to Certification

In addition to the general requirements, applicants must meet all of the criteria for one of the following routes.

Experience Route

For established practitioners with documented post-training experience in hair restoration surgery meeting the Board's case and duration requirements.

Fellowship Route

For physicians who have completed a recognized hair restoration surgery fellowship under the supervision of qualified Diplomates.

Certificate of Added Qualification for Physicians New to the Specialty

A pathway for physicians who are new to the specialty and building toward full Diplomate certification.
